For Ruben Sanchez, (Spanish), ‘place' continues to be important to the artist because Environment + Person = The Human Condition.

He is interested in how the world understands us, and we, it. With signature emblematic icons found throughout his work, the materiality of anxiety and overcoming intrigues him, leading to exuberant paintings, sculptures, murals, and more. Sanchez notes that his artworks “sometimes act as mirrors, creating a colorful therapy, and filling the gallery with questions that ask us to think about the mysteries of our mind, the most powerful tool we have.” His “post-cubism flirts with abstraction,” and with black, white, and the boldest of colors, reminiscent of his home country, Spain, his work merges person and place into a musicality that catches every eye. There’s a story being told in each work.

Born and raised in Madrid, Ruben Sanchez comes from the 90’s worlds of graffiti and skateboarding. His painting palette is vibrant and evokes vivacious living, his sculptures are gorgeously rounded in striking monochrome, and his black and white works are contemporary cubist tableaus.

Notable Accolades: His artwork can be found in exhibits and collections throughout the world, from Jordan to Miami, China to Dubai. His notorious commissions include large outdoor sculptures for the Nike Headquarters, brand identity for UEFA Champions League 2019, a Ruben Sanchez signature hotel in Dubai (The Muse) and works for Apple Music, Armani, etc.

Sanchez's humanitarian efforts extend to creating murals in refugee camps in Lebanon and Greece, including the mural "Pushing Boundaries," which highlights women's rights.
